Anheuser-Busch traces it origins to the Bavarian Brewery founded by George Schneider in 1852. Eberhard Anheuser acquired the brewery in 1860 and
was later joined in the business by his son-in-law Adolphus Busch.
The A&Eagle was first used on packaging in 1872. It is believed that the A stands for Eberhard Anheuser and the eagle represents the unlimited
vision of Adolphus Busch or the adopted country of both men.
Anheuser-Busch marketed more than 25 different non-alcoholic products such as soft drinks, truck bodies and ice cream.
August Busch IV is the fifth generation Busch family member to lead the company. He was preceded by his father, August Busch III; his grandfather
August Busch Jr.; his great-grandfather August Busch Sr.; and his great-great grandfather Adolphus Busch. In addition, Eberhard Anheuser was the
father-in-law of Adolphus Busch and led the company from 1860-1880.
