EDUCATION IS FREEDOM (EIF)

Education is Freedom® (EIF) is a nonprofit organization designed to eliminate the barriers to higher education and promote equality of opportunity in college attendance. Founded on the principle that every young person deserves the opportunity to pursue a higher education, EIF promotes responsibility, academic excellence, and discipline. EIF strives to have a positive impact on the success of urban youth and their pursuit of a higher education through a two-tiered program; at the national level, EIF operates a competitive scholarship program, and at the local level, EIF Dallas provides direct services at high schools in distressed communities, offering a comprehensive, coordinated, student-focused model to increase high school graduation and college attendance rates.

Anheuser-Busch’s Support

Anheuser-Busch is a founding supporter of the Education is Freedom National Scholarship Program. This nationally competitive scholarship program provides $8,000 college scholarships to high school seniors who demonstrate financial need and have achieved a GPA of 3.0 to 3.5. The scholarship funds are applied to full-time undergraduate study at an accredited 2 or 4-year college or university.

Anheuser-Busch also involves its distributors, consumers and retail partners in its fundraising efforts.

Impact

Education is Freedom focuses on students who have shown academic promise and leadership, but need financial assistance and guidance to go to college. At the national level, EIF scholarships have served students in all 50 states. More than 60,000 students have applied for funding and more than $5 million has been awarded to date.

“For more than 100 years, Anheuser-Busch has been a friend of the Latino community,” said Jesus Rangel, vice president, Community Relations. “We’re proud to continue that tradition by supporting Education is Freedom each year."

"The most important thing any of us can do is to help young adults receive an education. Thanks to the support of Anheuser-Busch, students across the nation are achieving their dreams of attaining a college degree.”
