Water Splash
Resource Recovery Farm

After we make beer, there’s some water left over, such as the water we use to clean brewery equipment. This water is a valuable source of soil nutrients, which we run through pipelines from our breweries in Fort Collins, Colo., and Jacksonville, Fla., to our company-owned farms, applying it back to the land.

This process is an environmentally sound and energy-efficient method of applying water and nutrients to the soil to produce feed and fuel crops, such as alfalfa and canola. Alfalfa and other hay crops are sold and used for animal feed. Canola crops are sold and used to produce biodiesel. At Fort Collins, we use biodiesel to power our farm equipment.

On top of that, these brewery farm sites are certified by the Wildlife Habitat Council for their habitat management programs for animals, such as the North American pronghorn antelope and the wood stork. Our resource recovery farms are yet another example of how Anheuser-Busch is looking for ways to conserve the Earth’s precious natural resources.
