Bud Light Renews as Official Beer Sponsor of Major League Lacrosse

America’s Best-Selling Beer and Rapidly Growing Sport Extend Partnership

ST. LOUIS and BOSTON (April 22, 2009) – Bud Light and Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, have come to terms on a two-year agreement that renews the brand as the official beer sponsor of the MLL.

The agreement extends Bud Light’s position as the exclusive alcohol beverage and non-alcohol malt beverage sponsor of the MLL, its six teams, the MLL All-Star Game and Postseason.

Throughout the regular season, the Bud Light Player of the Game will be announced at the conclusion of every contest, and during halftime of each game, adult fans can take part in the Bud Light Accuracy Shot Contest.  Bud Light, Anheuser-Busch’s and America’s best-selling beer, also remains the title sponsor of the All-Star Game’s Bud Light Skills Competition, as well as the Bud Light Regular Season and Postseason MVP Awards.

In addition, the agreement maintains the Bud Light Plays of the Week featured on majorleaguelacrosse.com, as well as website recognition as the official sponsor of the MLL on the League’s website.  Bud Light advertising will appear during select ESPN2 national telecasts, and the brand also continues to have logo placement on the jersey of the Washington Bayhawks.

“Anheuser-Busch has been a part of Major League Lacrosse since our inaugural season in 2001,” said MLL Commissioner David Gross.  “Bud Light is one of the iconic brands in the industry, and the renewal of this partnership shows their commitment to supporting the MLL as we, and the sport of lacrosse as a whole, continue to grow.”

“Major League Lacrosse is gaining fans across the country and is the type of lifestyle sport that makes perfect sense for Bud Light,” said Dan McHugh, vice president of Media, Sponsorship and Activation for Anheuser-Busch. “These fans are social, active outdoor sports fans who enjoy beer.  We look forward to continuing to help support and grow the league while reaching new adult beer drinkers.”

Local activation includes an exclusive “Bud Light Club” or “Bud Light Party Zone” in each MLL stadium.  The agreement also includes the title sponsorship of the “Bud Light Post Game Party” held after each MLL game and featuring appearances by MLL players.  As part of the agreement, Bud Light enjoys the rights to use MLL and MLL team marks and player likenesses in advertising, point of sale materials, and promotions.
