Maxim Magazine and Bud Light Kick Off 20-City 'Real Men of Comedy Tour' in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (Sept. 20, 2006) -- Here’s to the masters of comedy, those individuals who deliver lines we only wish we’d thought of. Bud Light and Maxim magazine have teamed up with three of these master comedians -- Joe Rogan (“Fear Factor”), Charlie Murphy (“Chappelle Show”) and John Hefferon (“Last Comic Standing”) -- for a 20-city “Real Men of Comedy Tour” that will kick off on Sept. 28 in St. Louis at The Pageant.

And get this “Oh Lord of the Laughs,” the talent behind Bud Light’s “Real Men of Genius,” will make a special appearance to kick off this national tour where they will perform parodies created especially for the “Real Men of Comedy Tour.” In addition to these national acts, Bud Light and Maxim are working together to promote an amateur comedian search in select tour markets. *

“Bud Light drinkers really appreciate comedy so we think they’ll enjoy such a great line-up of well-known comedians like Joe Rogan, Charlie Murphy and John Heffron,” said Rick Leininger, director, Bud Light, Anheuser-Busch.

The Maxim/Bud Light “Real Men of Comedy Tour” includes 20 cities (see the full list below) with the final performance scheduled on Nov. 18 in Las Vegas. The tour is a play on Bud Light’s “Real Men of Genius” radio campaign, which recently won the coveted Grand Prix at Cannes Advertising Festival for the second consecutive year.

The talent behind the “Real Men of Genius” campaign, David Bickler and Pete Stacker, also will appear in other select cities. David Bickler is the former lead singer for “Survivor,” the rock group that was made famous by its hit song, “Eye of the Tiger.” Pete Stacker’s numerous vocal credentials range from Comedy Central to the History Channel. This hilarious duo has been cracking up America since their partnership began in 1999 with the first of more than 100 “Real Men of Genius” radio ads.

Making this fall’s tour even more special will be the chance for one lucky comedian in each city to showcase their talents before a full house courtesy of Maxim, and in some markets, Bud Light. While the tour ventures across America, Maxim will comb through local comedy clubs in each of the 20 participating cities for a “diamond in the rough.” One lucky comedian will be given the chance to open their hometown show with five minutes of stand-up material.

Tour venues, ticket prices, and general information can be found on the Maxim/Bud Light “Real Men of Comedy Tour” Web site www.maximonline.com/realmenofcomedy.
