JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (March 20, 2007) – United Way of Northeast Florida received a boost to its campaign from Anheuser-Busch. Through the generosity of employees’ pledges from the company’s Jacksonville brewery, Metal Container Corporation can plant in Jacksonville and support from the Anheuser-Busch Foundation, the United Way received donations totaling more than $135,000.

United Way of Northeast Florida works in partnership with volunteers, community organizations and leaders to tackle critical issues facing children, families and seniors. United Way makes lasting changes that improve the lives of one in three people in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau and northern St. Johns counties.

The donation represents brewery employee pledges and donations raised through a variety of activities, including a golf outing. Employees at the Metal Container Corporation can plant in Jacksonville also made individual contributions. For the second year in a row, the can plant was named a Community Champions Circle of Honor bronze award winner by United Way of Northeast Florida, based on the percentage of employees who participated and per capita contribution.

“Anheuser-Busch has a tradition of giving back to the communities where our employees and their families live and work. We feel it is important for us to be a good neighbor, and our employees play a key role in helping us accomplish this through their support,” said Brian Boschenko, systems technology manager at the Jacksonville brewery, who co-chairs the brewery’s United Way campaign, along with Mandy Anderson, Human Resources. “United Way performs a valuable service that benefits a wide variety of health, education and human services concerns in our communities.”

“Anheuser-Busch and its employees have been and continue to be vital and active participants in helping United Way of Northeast Florida, which helps build a stronger community by improving the lives of people on Florida’s First Coast,” said Linda Malloy, vice president of resource development, United Way of Northeast Florida. “With the continuing support of companies like Anheuser-Busch, United Way-funded programs help children succeed, strengthen families, promote self-sufficiency, improve people’s health and make our communities safer.”

Anheuser-Busch, the parent company of the Jacksonville brewery and Jacksonville can plant, and its charitable foundation, have pledged approximately $2.7 million to the Jacksonville community over the past decade.

The Anheuser-Busch Foundation, which is the philanthropic arm of Anheuser-Busch Companies, provides support to local organizations in communities where the company operates breweries and other major facilities.
