Our breweries and other facilities have received dozens of awards in recent years to recognize our successes in reducing our environmental impacts by operating more efficiently and pursuing the use of alternative fuel sources.  These accomplishments were all met while maintaining our high quality standards for every beer we brew.

A sample of the recent environmental awards include:

Baldwinsville, N.Y.

  • Wildlife Habitat Council’s “Wildlife at Work Certification” for its work at the Stormwater Retention pond area.
  • United Nations Billion Tree Campaign Certificate for contributing to the U.N.’s effort to plant one billion trees worldwide.  The brewery planted 600 trees for World Environment Day.
  • Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency’s Blue Ribbon Recycling Award for the brewery’s recycling and waste minimization programs.

Columbus, Ohio

  • Award for Excellence in Community and Environmental Stewardship for the brewery’s participation in the PowerPay! demand response program.

Fairfield, Calif.

  • California’s Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) named the Fairfield brewery as a Waste Reduction Awards Program (WRAP) winner.
  • California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) named the Fairfield brewery as a Waste Reduction Awards Program (WRAP) winner.  The announcement marked the 16th time the Fairfield brewery had been named.  The WRAP award honors businesses for reducing the amount of trash they produce, conserving resources, educating employees and lowering waste disposal in landfills.

Fort Collins, Colo.

  • The Fort Collins brewery received the Gold Leader Award through the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Environmental Leadership Program.
  • The Fort Collins brewery received the Platinum Award from the City of Fort Collins as part of its Climate Wise program.

Houston, Texas

  • 2010 City of Houston’s Citizens Environmental Coalition’s “Corporate Awareness Award.”
  • 2010 City of Houston Proud Partners Award— Certificate of Recognition for Natural Resources Reduction project — water conservation
  • Texas Commission on Environmental Quality honored the brewery with a publication on their Environmental Benchmark Success Stories website, www.p2plan.org for our NOx reduction efforts
  • The Clean Texas Program, part of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, recognized the Houston Brewery as a bronze level member for being a leader among Texas communities and workplaces and for achieving significant environmental results to protect air, water, and land resources
  • Texas Commission on Environmental Quality 2010 Finalist for the Texas Environmental Excellence Award
  • 2010 City of Houston Gold Award for 100% compliance with the brewery’s Waste Water Permit

Los Angeles, Calif.

  • California’s Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) named the Los Angeles brewery as a Waste Reduction Awards Program (WRAP) winner.
  • In 2009, California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) again named the Los Angeles brewery a Waste Reduction Awards Program (WRAP) winner.  The announcement marked the 11th time the Los Angeles brewery had been recognized. The WRAP award honors businesses for reducing the amount of trash they produce, conserving resources, educating employees and lowering waste disposal in landfills.

Merrimack, N.H.

  • New Hampshire Governor’s “Pollution Prevention Award,” which recognizes New Hampshire businesses and organizations that have successfully reduced or eliminated waste.

Newark, N.J.

  • The New Jersey Governor’s Annual Occupational Safety and Health Award for achieving a yearly Lost Time Incident rate of 3.0 or less.
  • The Commissioner’s Continued Excellence Award and the Departmental Group Awards for the brewery’s QA, Business Administration and BOT Engineering departments.

St. Louis, Mo.

  • In 2010, the St. Louis brewery won the National Association of Environmental Managers’ “Pollution Prevention Award” for its recycling efforts.
  • 2009 Gold Award and 2010 Silver Award for pretreatment excellence from the Missouri Water Environment Association.
  • In 2009, the St. Louis Business Journal and the Missouri Botanical Garden awarded Anheuser-Busch the “Heroes of the Planet Award in Sustainable Giving,” which recognizes the company’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and conservation programs.

Williamsburg, Va.

  • The Williamsburg brewery has been awarded the Businesses for the Bay “Environmental Excellence Award” for the brewery’s outstanding achievement in pollution prevention.
  • The Williamsburg Brewery received the Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) Pollution Prevention Award for our Energy Conservation efforts.

Arnold, Mo. – Metal Container Corp.

  • Received a Gold Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment Compliance Award from the Missouri Water Environment Association for 2010.

Oklahoma City, Okla. – Metal Container Corp.

  • The City of Oklahoma City presented the lid plant with the 2009 Storm Water Program Achievement Award.
