ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

ANHEUSER-BUSCH'S WATER STEWARDSHIP LEGACY

Taking action to protect our local watersheds - within our facilities and beyond.

Water is at the basis of everything we do at Anheuser-Busch, so we feel a deep responsibility to be stewards of the water that sustains our communities, gives life to our earth, and goes into the beers we proudly brew.

By 2025, our sustainability goals include ensuring 100% of our facilities and breweries are engaged in water efficiency efforts and 100% of our communities in high-stress areas have measurably improved water availability and quality.

We do this with action, in our communities, year-round.

Anheuser-Busch is proud to partner with environmental organizations and non-profits who share our purpose to protect our environment, such as Keep America Beautiful, River Network, and Living Lands and Waters.

Since 2010, we have organized nearly 200 river and watershed protection events in partnership with River Network for Anheuser-Busch employees, family members, and friends across the country to volunteer to help improve local water quality and availability in our communities, with 20 additional cleanups planned for this year.

“We believe that businesses play a vital role in a future that includes healthier rivers and clean water for all. Anheuser Busch stands out as an exceptional putting action behind their commitment to protect and improve these precious resources community by community. Over 10 years our partnership has removed up to 1 million lbs of litter with the help of over 54,000 volunteers, accomplishing much more together than we would have alone.”  – Nicole Silk, President of  River Network

“I've been extremely fortunate to work side by side with thousands of enthusiastic Anheuser-Busch employees over the last 20+ years and, with their help and many others, we've been able to remove over 10 million pounds of garbage from America's rivers. The brewer has been one of our strongest corporate partners and is truly passionate about its ability to positively impact the communities where it operates.” -  Chad Pregracke, President and Founder of  Living Lands & Water

The Anheuser-Busch Foundation has also donated $2.4 million to The Nature Conservancy (TNC) - to help increase the quantity and improve the quality of water available to nurture natural ecosystems and communities in the western United States.

The collaboration, which began in 2019, specifically aims to improve the health of river systems important to the communities of Fort Collins, Colorado and Los Angeles, California through conservation projects along the Cache la Poudre (“Poudre”), Big Thompson, Los Angeles, and Colorado Rivers.

We do this at home, in our breweries and facilities, across the nation.

Anheuser-Busch's water conservancy efforts continue to flourish, in our breweries and facilities, where we have already reduced our water usage across our 12 flagship breweries by more than 23% in the past ten years.

Finding the right solutions is all about teamwork, and programs such as our  annual water savings competition challenge our employees at 45 of our operations facilities across the country to develop new ways to save water.

We are also investing in innovative technology and partnerships to continue to brew our high-quality beers while reducing water usage within our breweries. For example, through our partnership with Cambrian and its innovative series of reactors and filtration technologies, our Houston brewery will reclaim nearly 100 million gallons of water annually, reducing our reliance on community water supply by 10%.

Engaging our facilities, employees and communities in water stewardship efforts creates a future with more cheers—a future of shared prosperity for our communities, for the planet and for our company.
