THE “MAD SCIENTISTS” OF OUR BREWING TEAM
This is where creativity meets science meets magic. The Research Pilot Brewery (RPB) in St. Louis is where our brewmasters work to mix new flavors and styles and create the unexpected. Our brewers come to dream up our next innovative hit at RPB, which has an impressive track record dating back to its very first brainchild, Bud Light.
OUR INNOVATION PROCESS
Opened in 1981, the brewery gives autonomy and creative license to brewmasters to work with new ingredients, try new recipes and explore new brewing techniques. Every new Anheuser-Busch beer is first created, tested and refined here. At any time, there may be 30 to 50 different beers at different stages of their brewing processes. In addition to creating new beers, the RPB also serves as a training ground for many of the company’s future brewmasters.
THE RESEARCHERS AT WORK
The Research Pilot Brewery is a nine-story building with unlimited potential. Our brewers test new ingredients, styles and brewing techniques until they find something we think beer drinkers will really enjoy. New hop varieties? Yep. A smoked malt that just makes you think of barbeque? We’re testing it out.
OUR SECRET TO CONSISTENCY
To ensure that the same quality standards for the new brews are consistent with every Anheuser-Busch brand, the brewery brews one batch of Budweiser every week. These are also tested weekly by our expert taste panelists to make sure they compare perfectly to the Budweiser being produced next door at the historic St. Louis brewery, and at our breweries around the country.
