Anheuser-Busch Delivering More Than 500,000 Bottles of Hand Sanitizer for COVID-19 Relief Efforts

UPDATED MAY 29, 2020

Anheuser-Busch is leveraging their capabilities, relationships and reach to provide assistance to those in need by producing and distributing hand sanitizer to accommodate the growing need across the U.S. in the face of COVID-19

Hand sanitizer is being produced at the company's Baldwinsville, NY and Los Angeles, CA flagship breweries as well as alongside their partners at Cutwater Spirits (San Diego) and Devils Backbone Brewing Company (Roseland, VA).

Anheuser-Busch will distribute the sanitizer through their wholesaler network to the brewer's longstanding partners at the American Red Cross to support critical relief efforts such as blood drives and emergency shelters, and to communities in need, with the help and direction of government authorities.

To help keep their employees safe and reduce overall demand in the market, the hand sanitizer is also being distributed to the Anheuser-Busch and wholesaler employees who remain on the front lines, continuing to drive the businesses forward so that customers and consumers can enjoy a bit of normalcy during this difficult time.

“Our communities and our people are incredibly resilient,” said Adam Warrington, Vice President of Better World at Anheuser-Busch. “By providing resources to those on the front lines, we are committed to doing our part to support the individuals across the country who truly represent the best of the American spirit.”

Anheuser-Busch's initial production runs from the Baldwinsville, NY and Los Angeles, CA breweries – totaling more than 340,000 8oz bottles of hand sanitizer – were recently delivered to support local communities, healthcare systems, and relief efforts in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts,  Missouri, Nebraska,  New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Washington DC.

This week, more than 150,000 bottles of hand sanitizer from the Los Angeles brewery are being delivered to emergency management agencies and community partners in California, Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Additional supplies of hand sanitizer have also been delivered to relief efforts in California and Virginia by Anheuser-Busch's partners at Cutwater Spirits and Devils Backbone to support those on the front line in their local communities including San Diego first responder organizations and the Charlottesville-UVA-Albemarle Regional Emergency Operations Center.

Since the launch of the program in April, the company's flagship breweries and their craft partners have provided more than 500,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to 20 states and Washington DC.

“At Anheuser-Busch, we know we can't solve this problem on our own, but we can play a vital role,” said Warrington. “It's amazing to see what we can do when we all work together and we are thankful for our partners at the American Red Cross as well as our suppliers who have made this initiative possible.”
