Our New Parental Leave Policy: Bringing Employees And Their Families Together For A Better World

Today, we're proud and excited to announce a new parental leave policy for all of our full-time Anheuser-Busch employees.

Having spent significant time reviewing our previous policy, we knew it was time for a change, so we decided to take a holistic look at what we could offer as a company. In addition to that, we also listened to feedback from our present employees and analyzed what other leading companies currently offer. Above all, this was the right thing to do.

Effective immediately, salaried employees are eligible for:

  • Maternity Leave – The birth parent is now eligible for up to 8 weeks paid leave plus an additional 8 weeks Parental Bonding Leave for a total of 16 weeks paid leave.

  • Parental Bonding Leave – The primary caregiver is now eligible for up to 8 weeks paid leave and the secondary caregiver is also now eligible for up to 2 weeks paid leave.

  • Compensation – During the leave period, employee compensation remains at 100 percent of their base salary.

“We knew it was time for a change. We believe that introducing this new policy is the right thing to do and it was important to us that we heard, and responded to, feedback from our colleagues. Our previous policy was not focused enough on this important time in our colleagues' lives.” said Sandro Bassili, Vice President, People, Anheuser-Busch. “The more we can listen to our people and respond, the better our workplace will be for us all.”

At A-B, our employees and their families are our greatest strength, and our new policy puts us near the top in competitive parental policies in our industry. We appreciate that our employees had a voice in this new policy and helped us shape and improve our workplace for generations to come.

“It's refreshing, as a working mother who is passionate about advancing my career, to know that A-B is equally passionate about respecting my role as a parent,” said Jessica Shoemaker, Senior Brand Manager, Bud Light. “Affording working parents the ability to take a significant amount of paid time off to recover from childbirth or to bond with a child, without worrying about financial and job security, is not only the right thing to do for employee engagement, but also an essential move that will help A-B to maintain a competitive advantage in attracting and retaining diverse talent.”

“As a parent myself, I know what those precious early days with your child are like, and we wanted to give our colleagues time to bond with their new children,” added Sandro. “I hope our teammates savor their time off, then confidently return to the workplace and driving towards our company Dream of being the Best Beer Company Bringing People Together For a Better World.”
