Anheuser-Busch Delivering 400,000 Cans of Emergency Drinking Water to California, Massachusetts, and New York

UPDATED MAY 13, 2020

Anheuser-Busch is providing eight truckloads – nearly 400,000 cans — of emergency drinking water to support COVID-19 relief efforts in Los Angeles, Massachusetts, and New York.

At the request of the City of Los Angeles Emergency Management Department, nearly 200,000 cans of clean, safe drinking water were delivered in April to the city's Emergency Operations Center. An additional 150,000 cans will be delivered this week to help maintain the supply of critical resources at emergency shelters in the region.

50,000 cans of emergency drinking water will also be provided to Massachusetts and New York to support vulnerable communities, alternative care locations, and drive-through COVID-19 testing centers at the direction of the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency and local NY authorities.

“We are thankful for this donation of emergency drinking water from Anheuser-Busch which will help us provide essential resources to Los Angeles residents at our sheltering operations,” said Aram Sahakian, City of Los Angeles Emergency Operations Center Director.  “We currently have 20 shelters with over 1,000 residents daily and our Emergency Operations Center is continuing to work to coordinate resources to support our community during this difficult time.”

The donations of emergency drinking water will be delivered to Ace Beverage Co in Los Angeles, CA, Union Beer in Brooklyn, NY, and August A Busch & Co. in Medford, MA from Anheuser-Busch's Fort Collins, Colorado and Cartersville, Georgia breweries which periodically pause beer production throughout the year to can drinking water to be ready to help communities in times of disaster.

Anheuser-Busch has a longstanding tradition of providing support for relief efforts in partnership with the American Red Cross. Since the inception of the emergency drinking water program in 1988, Anheuser-Busch and its wholesaler partners have provided more than 83 million cans of water to U.S. communities nationwide affected by natural disasters and other crises.
