Learning How to Drive the Budweiser Clydesdales

Fox & Friends Anchor Take a Peek at the New Driver Training Program

Imagine you've been given reins to one of the most prestigious teams in America. No pressure, right?

Last month, Fox & Friends' Anna Koimann got an exclusive look behind the new Budweiser Clydesdales' driver education program in Merrimack, NH, which launched last spring.

As part of that peek behind the wagon, Anna had the chance to take the reins and test her mettle like each Clydesdale hitch driver does in Budweiser's new driver training program, which launched last spring.

Just as each Clydesdale goes through extensive hitch training before they can become a member of the Budweiser Clydesdale hitch team, the drivers who will eventually take their seats on the iconic red wagon must go through a training course where they learn to drive the hitch. It's the proving ground for the hitch drivers, who must be ready to carry on the tradition of quality that the Clydesdales represent.

Anna enjoyed a day with the "student drivers" learning things like how to care for the horses, the different rein commands and how much strength it takes to keep the reins in control.

Take a look at the clip below. For more about the Clydesdales, don't miss this recent piece on Warm Springs Farm, where baby Clydesdales are born and raised.
